QZ Tray is a software application that allows Droptop to automatically control your invoice printers, label (sticker) printers, and cash drawers and allows for auto-printing to take place.
This guide will help you install our copied WINDOWS version of QZ Tray (pinned to version 2.1.6) that will allow you to quickly setup auto printing without the need of installing any security certificates. If you would prefer to use a more trusted version of QZ Tray (downloaded from QZ themselves & needs certificate installation) please follow this guide here:How to Install and Run QZ Tray (With Security Certificate)
Installation Steps
1. Download QZ Tray
Download the installation file here: Droptop QZ Tray 2.1.6 Installer
2. Install the Application
After downloading, open the .exe file to begin installation (Windows).
If you see a security warning (such as Windows Defender), select Run anyway. The application is safe to install.
Follow the installation prompts and keep all settings as default.
If prompted to install Java:
- Follow the provided link
- Download the JRE .MSI file that matches your operating system
- Once installed, return to the QZ Tray installation and continue
3. Launch QZ Tray
Once installation is complete, open QZ Tray.
You will see the QZ Tray icon appear in your system tray.
4. Keep QZ Tray Running
Before using Droptop, ensure QZ Tray is always running. The application should automatically start each time your computer boots.
Important Note
If you are prompted to update QZ Tray, do not install the update.
Droptop's QZ Tray install is only compatible with QZ Tray version 2.1.6. Updating to newer versions will render a prompt in the browser every time you try and print in Droptop.
