Please follow the following steps to get the GoDex RT200i to work with your Windows computer with USB connection:
1) Unbox the printer unit and attach it to the computer with the provided USB cable. If you have issues putting the printer together, please refer to the official RT200i manual here: https://www.godexprinters.co.uk/downloads/manuals/desktop/RT200i_user_manual_en.pdf. Turn the printer ON but do not install anything at this point yet. If WIFI is desired over USB, this can be set up after the initial installation using the steps provided in the GoDex RT200i manual.
2) Download the latest driver for your Windows operating system and install it. Download here: https://www.godexintl.com/downloads?type=15246521193763638&locale=en_US
- Once installed, if you cannot locate the GoDex as a “Printer” when you print from a web browser, there was an issue with the driver install. Completely uninstall the GoDex driver by going into the installed GoDex folder and running the “InstallWizard” file. This will give you the option to uninstall the GoDex.
- Once uninstallation is complete and your computer has restarted, try reinstalling the driver again with the GoDex Printer ON and attached by USB in a working USB slot.
3) Once you are able to see the GoDex show up as a Printer when printing from a web browser, you are now ready to configure the text positioning on the printed sticker.
4) Sign in to Droptop and go to the Packages page and create or edit a package. Then, click the “Show Sticker Template” button in the “Package Sticker Settings” module (at the bottom). Now, print the sticker by clicking the “Print” button. You will likely see that the positioning of the text is not centered on the sticker print out. We will fix that below.
5) To fix sticker text centering on a Windows 10/11 computer:
- Open “Printers & Scanners” in your Windows System Settings (you can search it using the Windows search functionality). Choose your GoDex RT200i printer. Then click “Manage”. From here, click “Printing Preferences”.
- From the window that pops up, you’ll want to initially create a new Stock template by clicking the “New…” button in the Stock section. Here, we are going to enter our label sizing so that the printer knows how big of a surface to print on. Make sure to give your new Stock a name as well!
- Now, adjust the “Label Size” section initially to the RT200i stock label sizing: Width: 45mm and Height: 65mm (it’s possible you may have larger labels - measure your labels to make sure and enter your sizing in mm).
- Set the “Exposed Liner Widths” section to Left: 0mm and Right: 0mm. Press OK when done.
- The “Orientation” section should be set to “Portrait”. This may have to change depending on the type of sticker being used as well (ex. if there is already text or a logo on the sticker, you may need to switch this to Portrait 180).
- Then, to further adjust the position of the text on the sticker, click the “Advanced Options...” button in the bottom right of the window. On this screen, adjust these settings (if you have to) until the correct text output is finally achieved. This step will require some trial and error but you will get it! Make sure to save your changes before you try printing each time!
- We also recommend clicking the “Graphics” tab at the top of the window and selecting “Algebraic” from the list. This will make the fonts look thicker and less pixelated on the sticker.
- We also recommend clicking the “Stock” tab at the top and making sure that the “Media Type” field is set to “Labels With Gaps” and the “Label Gap” field is set to 3.0 mm.
- Once you are happy with the output on your stickers, you’ll want to save your configurations as a “Preset” for your settings. You can do this from the same Printing Preferences window near the bottom under the “Preset” section. Click the “Manage…” button, add a name for your preset like “GoDex Sticker” and then press OK. Finally, click OK and you should be good to go now!
6) If there are still issues after performing the above steps, experiment with the settings available throughout the tabs in this window to get your desired output. Also make sure that you are indeed running the latest GoDex drivers! Click the “About” tab at the top of this same window and then click the “Version…” button to check the version. If you’re on an older driver, please uninstall the driver (instructions listed above) and download/install the latest one from the GoDex website (listed above).
7) If you are still having trouble, feel free to reach out to your Droptop representative. If you are having set up or technical issues with the physical printer itself, we recommend reaching out to GoDex tech support via this email: techsupportga@godexintl.com
